Welcome

I am proud to introduce St Augustine’s Church of England School to you.

The staff work hard to create a learning environment in which every child is nurtured, valued and involved. The school has a creative and personalised approach to education. Teachers carefully track the learning of every child so that they can help each one to achieve to their best ability and keep parents informed of their progress.

Our school community strives to put the school vision statement into practice:

Believe in Ourselves. Live well together. Anchored by God’s Love.

To help aim for this vision, the Values-Based Education programme was introduced. VbE has had a major impact in school, improving both academic attainment as well as social skills. We were very proud to be the first school in West Sussex to be awarded the VbE Quality Mark.

Children at St Augustine’s benefit from a variety of school trips which enliven the curriculum and are an important way for the children to experience the wider world. They also enjoy a wide range of sporting and cultural opportunities organised through the North Eastern Area Network of Rural Schools.

St Augustine’s School is in the village of Scaynes Hill, just a few miles from Haywards Heath and set in a quiet location close to ancient woodlands and open countryside. We have pleasant, well maintained school buildings and grounds. The library and outside area have been improved in recent years in consultation with the children. Their participation in decisions such as these is one of the things that makes this school distinctive. Children learn to get involved and take responsibility from the earliest stage in their school lives.

The success of St Augustine’s is built upon partnerships between the school, parents, local church and wider community. Together we are seeking to build a school where children can flourish and achieve to their full potential.

With best wishes
