Homework

Our Homework Policy highlights the importance of homework; it is ‘an essential part of a good education’ (1997 ‘Excellence in schools’ – white paper). We believe that homework is particularly essential in these unprecedented times, where children have experienced such disruption in their schooling. Using Google Classroom, on a weekly basis, will also ensure that learning is disrupted as little as possible if children need to isolate for any reason.

Homework is set on Google Classroom on a Friday, with the expectation that it is completed by 9am the following Friday, unless stated otherwise.

Suggested times spent on homework, not including reading, are:

Year 1 and 2 - 45 minutes per week

Year 3 and 4 - 1 hour to 1 1/2  hours per week

Year 5 and 6 - 1 1/2 to 2 1/2  hours per week
